AN ACT
Amending sections 20‑1656 and 20‑1678, Arizona Revised Statutes; relating to cancellation or nonrenewal of insurance.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:
Section 1. Section 20-1656, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended to read:
20-1656. Proof of mailing as proof of notice; definition
A. Proof of mailing of a notice of cancellation and the reasons for cancellation or of intention not to renew to the named insured at the address shown in the policy shall be sufficient proof of the notice required by this article.
B. For the purposes of this section, "proof of mailing" means any of the following:
1. Electronic delivery consistent with the requirements of title 44, chapter 26.
2. Mailing by first class mail using intelligent mail barcode.
3. Mailing by electronic means with a United States postal service electronic postmark or another electronic mail delivery service that provides electronic postmarks substantially similar to a United States postal service electronic postmark.
Sec. 2. Section 20-1678, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended to read:
20-1678. Proof of notice; definition
A. Proof of mailing of the notice or cancellation, or of nonrenewal or of premium or coverage changes, to the named insured at the address shown in the policy is sufficient proof of notice.
B. For the purposes of this section "proof of mailing" means any of the following:
1. Electronic delivery consistent with the requirements of title 44, chapter 26.
2. Mailing by first class mail using intelligent mail barcode.
3. Mailing by electronic means with a United States postal service electronic postmark or another electronic mail delivery service that provides electronic postmarks substantially similar to a United States postal service electronic postmark.
