AN ACT

 

Appropriating monies to the department of education.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.  Appropriation; department of education; electric school buses; exemption

A.  The sum of $1,500,000 is appropriated from the state general fund in fiscal year 2021-2022 to the department of education to award grants to school districts to purchase electric school buses.

B. The monies appropriated in subsection A of this section may be spent only when:

1.  The department collects matching monies of gifts, grants and donations to purchase electric school buses from sources other than:

(a)  This state.

(b)  School districts.

2.  The school district applying for a grant demonstrates that the school district has a commitment from the private sector for matching monies of gifts, grants and donations to purchase electric school buses.

C.  The appropriation made in subsection A of this section is exempt from the provisions of section 35-190, Arizona Revised Statutes, relating to lapsing of appropriations.
