AN ACT
making an appropriation to the Arizona department of homeland security for border security communication equipment.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:
Section 1. Appropriation; Arizona department of homeland security; communication equipment; border security; grants; reports
A. The sum of $20,000,000 is appropriated from the state general fund in fiscal year 2014-2015 to the Arizona department of homeland security for the purchase and distribution of communication equipment to enhance border security.
B. The department shall distribute the monies appropriated in this section through a grant application process pursuant to title 41, chapter 24, Arizona Revised Statutes. The department may award grants to any county located adjacent to the Arizona‑Mexico border and to any political subdivision located in a county located adjacent to the Arizona‑Mexico border.
C. On or before January 15, April 15, July 15 and December 15, 2016, a county or other political subdivision that receives a grant pursuant to this section shall file a report with the joint legislative committee on homeland security and the joint legislative budget committee detailing the expenditure of the grant monies and the effectiveness of the border security enhancements resulting from the expenditure.
