A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated §17-29-15a, relating to transportation network companies; prohibiting solicitation of rides; prohibiting occupation of designated taxi stands; and providing criminal penalties and fines.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended by adding thereto a new section, designated §17-29-15a, to read as follows:
ARTICLE 29. Transportation Network Companies.
§17-29-15a. Solicitation and taxi stand occupation prohibited.
(a) A transportation network company driver may not solicit rides from potential customers.
(b) A transportation network company driver may not occupy a designated taxi stand.
(c) Any person who violates the provisions of this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction thereof, shall for the first offense be fined $25; and for a second or subsequent offense be fined $50.
