Immediate Consideration
Proclaiming the extension of a state of emergency in our correctional institutions.
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That, By Executive Order 5-22, issued August 11, 2022, the Governor declared that a state of emergency exists in West Virginia as it pertains to the staffing level of our juvenile and adult detention and correction facilities; and, be it
Further Resolved, That until there is proper staffing to achieve a safe environment within our juvenile and adult detention and correctional facilities, such State of Emergency must remain in effect; and, be it
Further Resolved, That this Legislature seeks, in no way to endanger that ongoing assistance and support; and be it
Further Resolved, That this Legislature continue the state of emergency and it be extended, so long as the state of emergency persists.
