A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated §29-6-29, relating to allowing state employees to take paid leave to attend parent-teacher conferences for their children.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
ARTICLE 6. CIVIL SERVICE SYSTEM.
§29-6-29. Leave for child’s education.
(a) Employees covered under this article may use paid leave during normal work hours to attend either:
(1) A mutually-scheduled parent-teacher conference for the employee’s child attending a public or private school in grades kindergarten through 12; or
(2) A mutually-scheduled parent caregiver conference for the employee’s preschool-aged child attending a licensed group child care center.
(b) The employee may include reasonable travel time between his or her place of employment and the meeting location.
