SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 146 Commending the Brunswick Academy football team.

 

Agreed to by the Senate, February 29, 2024 Agreed to by the House of Delegates, March 4, 2024

 

WHEREAS, the Brunswick Academy football team of Lawrenceville capped off an undefeated season with a victory in the Virginia Independent Schools Football League Division II state championship in 2023; and

WHEREAS, in the state final, the Brunswick Academy Vikings dominated their opponents from Broadwater Academy by a score of 70-0; and

WHEREAS, in addition to securing the state crown for the second consecutive year, the Brunswick Vikings finished the season with a perfect 13-0 record; and

WHEREAS, the victorious season is a testament to the skill and hard work of all the student-athletes, the leadership and guidance of the coaches and staff, and the passionate support of family members, friends, and the entire Brunswick Academy community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Brunswick Academy football team on winning the 2023 Virginia Independent Schools Football League Division II state championship; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Andrew Weidman, head coach of the Brunswick Academy football team, as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the team's exceptional athletic achievements.
