Commending Jan Wynn House.

WHEREAS, Jan Wynn House has touched countless lives in Norfolk through her kindness, generosity, and commitment to community leadership; and

WHEREAS, Jan House works as a housing coordinator for previously incarcerated women and has given countless individuals the tools and support they needed to transition to life outside of prison and become productive members of society; and

WHEREAS, a champion for the importance of a good education, Jan House has also provided her leadership and expertise to Norfolk Public Schools as a parent engagement specialist and the coordinator of the After the Bell program; and

WHEREAS, Jan House has further supported young people as a longtime troop leader with the Girl Scout Council of Colonial Coast, where she has proudly imparted to generations of girls and young women the values of integrity, honesty, and self-worth; and

WHEREAS, in addition to her work with youths, Jan House advocates for the elderly population and cofounded Seniors Aging Gracefully in 2018; the organization strives to ensure the health and wellness of local seniors in a dignified and respectful manner and encourages them to stay engaged in community life; and

WHEREAS, Jan House has also held leadership positions with the Passion Committee of the American Heart Association, the Norfolk Chapter of the National Council of Negro Women, the Garden of Hope Leaders of Tomorrow Youth Summer Program, and the NAACP; and

WHEREAS, possessed of a servant's heart, Jan House has helped people in need feel valued, understood, and accepted, and she has inspired many people around her to take a more active role in volunteer leadership; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Jan Wynn House for her legacy of outstanding contributions to the Norfolk community; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Jan Wynn House as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for her personal and professional achievements and dedication to enhancing the quality of life in Norfolk.
