SENATE BILL NO. 868
AMENDMENT IN THE NATURE OF A SUBSTITUTE
(Proposed by the Senate Committee on Rehabilitation and Social Services
on January 13, 2017)
(Patron Prior to Substitute--Senator Favola)
A BILL to require local departments of social services to timely respond to complaints alleging abuse or neglect of a child one year of age or younger.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. §1. That the State Board of Social Services shall promulgate regulations that require local departments of social services to respond to valid reports and complaints alleging suspected abuse or neglect of a child under the age of two within 24 hours of receiving such reports or complaints.
