VIRGINIA ACTS OF ASSEMBLY -- CHAPTER
An Act to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered 24.2-1004.1, relating to payments for registering to vote; penalties.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 24.2-1004.1 as follows:

§24.2-1004.1. Payments for registering to vote; penalties.

A. Any person who gives, offers, or promises any monetary payment to another in exchange for that person registering to vote is guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor.

B. Any person who solicits or accepts any monetary payment from another in exchange for his registering to vote is guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor.
