VIRGINIA ACTS OF ASSEMBLY -- CHAPTER An Act to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered 54.1-3017.1, relating to a provisional license for registered nurse applicants. [S 1245] Approved

 

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 54.1-3017.1 as follows:

§ 54.1-3017.1. Registered nurse provisional license.

The Board may issue a provisional license to an applicant for licensure as a registered nurse who has met the educational and examination requirements for licensure, in order to allow the applicant to obtain clinical experience, as specified by the Board in regulation. A person practicing under a provisional license shall only practice under the supervision of a licensed registered nurse, in accordance with regulations established by the Board.

2. That the Board of Nursing shall promulgate regulations to implement the provisions of this act to be effective within 280 days of its enactment.
