WHEREAS, Thomas Alvin Lester, Sr., an honorable veteran, respected operations manager and electrician, and beloved member of the Cedar Bluff community, died on May 28, 2023; and
WHEREAS, a native of Buchanan County, Thomas Lester served his country with honor and distinction as a member of the United States Navy during the Vietnam War; and
WHEREAS, Thomas Lester made meaningful contributions to the concrete industry over an accomplished career as an operations manager and electrician; and
WHEREAS, Thomas Lester supported and enjoyed camaraderie with his fellow veterans as a longstanding member of the Casey-Shortt Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #9640 in Pounding Mill; and
WHEREAS, preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Carolyn, Thomas Lester will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by his son, Thomas, Jr., and his family and by numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of Thomas Alvin Lester, Sr., a treasured member of the Cedar Bluff community whose integrity and generous spirit made an impact on all who knew him; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Thomas Alvin Lester, Sr., as an expression of the House of Delegates' respect for his memory.
