WHEREAS, Pop's Drive-In, a beloved dining establishment in York County, closed its doors for the last time in March 2023 after nearly a half-century in business; and
WHEREAS, owned and operated by the Allen family, Pop's Drive-In was a staple in the lives of many York County residents and visitors, each with their own story of why the restaurant was special to them; and
WHEREAS, Pop's Drive-In served up popular dishes, which earned them regional fame; from omelets and oatmeal for breakfast to country-style steak and crab cakes for dinner, Pop's proved to be a York County staple; and
WHEREAS, Pop's Drive-In maintained its comfortable and understated decor over the years, offering its patrons the opportunity to revisit past memories and luxuriate in the charm of a classic American diner; and
WHEREAS, though the York County community will miss the people and the memories made at Pop's Drive-In, many are also heartened to know its closing provides the Allen family with the chance to enjoy a happy and well-deserved retirement; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Pop's Drive-In hereby be commended for its service to the residents and visitors of York County on the occasion of its closing; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Allen family, owners of Pop's Drive-In, as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for its place in the history and culture of York County.
