WHEREAS, Quinn Evans Architects, an architectural firm based in Richmond, received the American Institute of Architects' Architecture Firm Award, the organization's highest honor, for 2024; and
WHEREAS, awarded to only one firm nationally each year, the Architecture Firm Award recognizes firms that have consistently produced distinguished architecture for a period of more than 10 years; and
WHEREAS, Quinn Evans, formerly known as BCWH, was founded in 1984 by its visionary namesakes, Michael Quinn and David Evans, who have led the firm to emphasize scholarship of technical preservation, creativity, and an eager embrace of adaptive reuse; and
WHEREAS, Quinn Evans has developed some of the most recognized architectural projects in the Richmond region, including the recent restoration of Old City Hall on Capitol Square; and
WHEREAS, as its reputation for preservation, design excellence, and expertise in the revitalization of significant places has grown over the years, Quinn Evans has led work on some of the nation's most iconic buildings, such as the Michigan State Capitol and the Eisenhower Executive Office Building in Washington, D.C.; and
WHEREAS, Quinn Evans promotes the environmental benefits of reuse through projects that cleverly incorporate preservation and sustainable design to reimagine existing buildings for new purposes; and
WHEREAS, Quinn Evans' emphasis on reuse and preservation and on connecting with the meaning of place in each of its projects has provided the world of architecture with an innovative and influential perspective and approach; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Quinn Evans Architects hereby be commended for receiving the 2024 Architecture Firm Award from the American Institute of Architects; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Quinn Evans Architects as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the firm's achievements and contributions to the Commonwealth.
