WHEREAS, the Temple Christian School girls' softball team won the Virginia Association of Christian Athletics state softball championship in May 2012; and WHEREAS, the recently established Temple Christian School girls' softball team was unbeaten in the spring 2012 regular season; and WHEREAS, the Temple Christian Crusaders advanced to the playoffs and defeated United Christian Academy in the final by a score of 5 - 0; and WHEREAS, during the championship, the Temple Christian Crusaders played an excellent game, committing no errors on defense and holding the batters on United Christian Academy to only three hits; and WHEREAS, each member of the team—Kelsey Bryant, Stephanie Carroll, Sallie Robertson, Autumn Esterline, Kayla Bryant, Casey Tomlin, Jessica Dudley, Emily Ewers, Katarina Wakefield, Jordan Ayers, Casey Jennings, and Stephanie Hogan—contributed wholeheartedly to the victorious season; and WHEREAS, Stephanie Hogan was named the most valuable player of the state tournament and the all-state team; Kayla Bryant, Kelsey Bryant, and Sallie Robertson also earned all-state and all-tournament team honors; and WHEREAS, the victory is due to the hard work of all the players, the dedicated leadership of the coaching staff, and the steadfast support of the students, administration, and fans of Temple Christian School; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Temple Christian School girls' softball team on winning the 2012 Virginia Association of Christian Athletics state softball championship; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Darrell Bryant, head coach of the Temple Christian School girls' softball team, as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the team's success and best wishes for the future. |
