HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 672 Commending Nick Bakos.

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, January 14, 2011 Agreed to by the Senate, January 20, 2011

WHEREAS, Nick Bakos finished his high school wrestling career at Sherando High School in Stephens City with a Virginia High School League 2010 individual Group AA state championship win in the 171-pound weight class before a capacity crowd at the Salem Civic Center; and

WHEREAS, Nick Bakos completed his state championship season with an outstanding 54 – 2 record consisting of 24 pins, six technical falls, and seven major decisions; and

WHEREAS, during his exceptional career, Nick Bakos won several tournament championships, three Northwestern District and two Region II championships, and accumulated 163 career wins; and

WHEREAS, Nick Bakos placed seventh in the nationally prestigious Beast of the East Tournament in Newark, Delaware, where he experienced his only two losses of the season; and

WHEREAS, throughout a stellar high school career, Nick Bakos was named a National High School Coaches Association High School All-American and the Winchester Star Wrestler of the Year, as well as twice being selected by his teammates as a team captain; and

WHEREAS, a remarkable young man, Nick Bakos excelled in wrestling and in the classroom, graduating with a 3.3 cumulative grade point average; and

WHEREAS, Nick Bakos' wrestling achievements are attributed to his hard work, determination, self-discipline, dedication, and commitment to excellence, along with the support of the coaching staff and his family; and

WHEREAS, recruited by numerous universities and colleges, Nick Bakos chose to attend West Virginia University and now continues his wrestling career with the Mountaineers; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Nick Bakos for his Virginia High School League 2010 individual Group AA state championship win; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Nick Bakos as an expression of the General Assembly's congratulations and admiration for his high school wrestling career.
