WHEREAS, Fieldale-Collinsville Middle School, an outstanding middle school in Henry County, recently received recognition as a School to Watch and Breakthrough School; and WHEREAS, Schools to Watch is an initiative of the National Forum to Accelerate Middle-Grades Reform that identifies schools across the United States that are well on their way to meeting the Forum's criteria for high performance, including academic excellence, response to developmental challenges, and social equitability; and WHEREAS, Fieldale-Collinsville Middle School was one of five schools in Virginia selected as a School to Watch for 2010 based on its individualized instruction, accommodation for different learning styles, and use of technology in daily instruction; and WHEREAS, Fieldale-Collinsville Middle School was also named a Breakthrough School through the MetLife-National Association of Secondary School Principals project; and WHEREAS, Fieldale-Collinsville Middle School was selected for its continuing focus on helping students achieve their best and for efforts to create a supportive, encouraging learning environment; and WHEREAS, Fieldale-Collinsville Middle School was one of only five middle schools in the country to be recognized as a Breakthrough School and will be honored at the 2010 National Association of Secondary School Principals Convention in March 2010; and WHEREAS, the teachers, administration, and staff of Fieldale-Collinsville Middle School have worked diligently to continue the school's proud tradition of excellence; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend Fieldale-Collinsville Middle School for its recognition as a School to Watch and a Breakthrough School; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Fieldale-Collinsville Middle School as an expression of the General Assembly's congratulations and appreciation for the school's commitment to its students. |
