WHEREAS, Charles Harmon Robson, Jr., of Brightwood, a respected citizen and outstanding community supporter, died on February 18, 2010; and WHEREAS, Charles "Charlie" Harmon Robson, Jr., was born in Rixeyville on November 10, 1935, the son of Ethel Jasper Robson and Charles Harmon Robson, Sr.; graduated from Culpeper High School; and completed a bachelor's degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University; and WHEREAS, Charlie Robson worked for the Virginia Department of Transportation, retiring after 40 years of outstanding service as a state materials engineer; and WHEREAS, an excellent role model and mentor, Charlie Robson was a dedicated scout leader of Troop 196 and a great supporter of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) for over 40 years; he helped 74 young men obtain the rank of Eagle Scout; and WHEREAS, Charlie Robson received the distinguished BSA Silver Beaver award, a council-level service award, and earned the Wood Badge beads for completing the most advanced training available for scout leaders; and WHEREAS, over the years, Charlie Robson was a member of the Culpeper School Board and Madison County School Board and served as chair for the Madison County board for several years; and WHEREAS, committed to giving back to the community, Charlie Robson generously volunteered his time and expertise to many civic organizations, including as a member of the local Lion's Club and Hospice of the Rapidan; he also enjoyed working as a tour guide at Graves Mountain Lodge; and WHEREAS, Charlie Robson was a faithful member of Hebron Lutheran Church and active in the church's many missions in the community; and WHEREAS, Charlie Robson will be fondly remembered for his loyalty to his friends and his outgoing personality and tremendous sense of humor and will be greatly missed by his loving family and numerous good friends and admirers; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly mourn the passing of a fine community benefactor and outstanding Virginian, Charles Harmon Robson, Jr.; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Charles Harmon Robson, Jr., as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for his memory. |
