WHEREAS, AbbyCakes, a woman veteran-owned bakery specializing in custom cakes and other sweet delights, opened in Virginia Beach in 2023; and

WHEREAS, AbbyCakes was founded by Alberta "Abby" Keen, who has cultivated a passion for baking ever since working at a bakery in her twenties; and

WHEREAS, Abby Keen was inspired to open AbbyCakes after witnessing how much her friends and family enjoyed the cakes she baked for special occasions, dating back to the cake she baked for her daughter's first birthday; and

WHEREAS, since starting AbbyCakes, Abby Keen has helped countless individuals and families bring sweetness and joy to their significant moments, including birthdays, graduations, bridal showers, weddings, baby showers, and gender reveal parties; and

WHEREAS, Abby Keen puts extraordinary care and attention into every one-of-a-kind creation she makes at AbbyCakes, producing cakes that are stunningly beautiful, unimaginably delicious, and the highlight of any celebration; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend AbbyCakes on the occasion of its new store opening in Virginia Beach; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Abby Keen, owner of AbbyCakes, as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for her achievements and best wishes for success in her endeavor.
