HOUSE BILL NO. 992 House Amendments in [ ] – February 9, 2024 A BILL to direct local departments of social services to enter into agreements with local workforce development boards regarding coordinated workforce development services for certain public benefits program participants. ---------- Patron Prior to Engrossment--Delegate Tran ---------- Referred to Committee on Labor and Commerce ----------

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. §1. That each local department of social services (local department) shall develop and enter into a written agreement with the local workforce development board serving the jurisdiction served by the local department. Such agreement shall (i) provide for the coordinated provision of workforce development services to participants in the Virginia Initiative for Education and Work and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program [ (SNAP) ] Employment and Training and (ii) comply with any other requirements established by the Department of Social Services. [ No recipient shall be subject to denial of SNAP benefits for failure to participate in such coordinated provision of workforce development services. Each local workforce development board entering into such agreement shall ensure that such agreement incorporates elements sufficient to satisfy the requirements of subdivisions I 9 and 10 of §2.2-2472 of the Code of Virginia. ]
