Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia: 1. §1. That the Department of Social Services shall study child day centers that are licensed and exempt from licensure. In conducting its study, the Department of Social Services shall (i) review all categories of child day programs exempt from licensure pursuant to §63.2-1715 of the Code of Virginia, (ii) formulate recommendations regarding whether such programs should remain exempt from licensure or whether any modifications that may be necessary to protect the health and well-being of the children receiving care in such programs, (iii) consider such other matters as may be necessary regarding health and safety requirements for licensed child day centers, and (iv) consult with all relevant stakeholders. All agencies of the Commonwealth shall provide assistance to the Department of Social Services for this study, upon request. The Department of Social Services shall report of its findings to the Chairmen of the House Committee on Health, Welfare and Institutions and the Senate Committee on Rehabilitation and Social Services by November 15, 2016. |
