Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 54.1-2971.2 as follows:
§54.1-2971.2. Disclosure and informed consent for practical demonstration for students or trainees.
Physicians shall disclose the potential observation of a patient's procedure by students or trainees if any such possibility exists. Such disclosure shall notify the patient that the procedure may be used for teaching purposes and that students or trainees may view the procedure in its entirety or at any point during the procedure. Physicians shall obtain informed consent from the patient before students or trainees may be permitted to observe the procedure.
