HOUSE BILL NO. 1231
AMENDMENT IN THE NATURE OF A SUBSTITUTE
(Proposed by the House Committee on Education
on February 7, 2024)

A BILL to require the Department of Education to notify school boards of any federal legal obligation relating to Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) program participation.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. §1. The Department of Education shall notify each school board of any obligation imposed on the school board or any public school in the local school division pursuant to any federal law or regulation relating to student eligibility to participate in Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) programs offered by any branch of the Armed Forces of the United States in public schools.
