| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize Guadalupe Aguilar, who is retiring from the Harlingen | ||
| Consolidated Independent School District after more than 40 | ||
| years of outstanding service; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A native of Harlingen, Guadalupe Aguilar attended | ||
| Crockett Elementary School and graduated from Harlingen High | ||
| School before going on to earn a bachelor's degree in elementary | ||
| education from Pan American University in 1970; and | ||
| WHEREAS, She began her career in the Harlingen | ||
| Consolidated Independent School District as a second grade | ||
| teacher at Bowie Elementary School in 1970, and in the | ||
| intervening years has held numerous other positions, including | ||
| teacher in the Help One Student To Succeed program and assistant | ||
| principal; and | ||
| WHEREAS, She has received the Betty Scharff Help One | ||
| Student To Succeed Teacher of the Year Award and helped Crockett | ||
| Elementary School become a national exemplary site for this | ||
| outstanding program; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A dedicated and resourceful educator, she has | ||
| instilled in her students an appreciation for challenges and hard | ||
| work and a lifelong love of learning, and they have benefited | ||
| greatly from her compassion and her skillful teaching methods; | ||
| she is truly deserving of recognition for her many contributions | ||
| to the educational system in the Rio Grande Valley; now, | ||
| therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend Guadalupe Aguilar on four decades of | ||
| exceptional service to the people of Harlingen as an educator | ||
| with the Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District and | ||
| extend to her best wishes for the retirement years ahead; and, be | ||
| it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
