SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 980
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Guadalupe Aguilar, who is retiring from the Harlingen
  Consolidated Independent School District after more than 40
  years of outstanding service; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Harlingen, Guadalupe Aguilar attended
  Crockett Elementary School and graduated from Harlingen High
  School before going on to earn a bachelor's degree in elementary
  education from Pan American University in 1970; and
         WHEREAS, She began her career in the Harlingen
  Consolidated Independent School District as a second grade
  teacher at Bowie Elementary School in 1970, and in the
  intervening years has held numerous other positions, including
  teacher in the Help One Student To Succeed program and assistant
  principal; and
         WHEREAS, She has received the Betty Scharff Help One
  Student To Succeed Teacher of the Year Award and helped Crockett
  Elementary School become a national exemplary site for this
  outstanding program; and
         WHEREAS, A dedicated and resourceful educator, she has
  instilled in her students an appreciation for challenges and hard
  work and a lifelong love of learning, and they have benefited
  greatly from her compassion and her skillful teaching methods;
  she is truly deserving of recognition for her many contributions
  to the educational system in the Rio Grande Valley; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby commend Guadalupe Aguilar on four decades of
  exceptional service to the people of Harlingen as an educator
  with the Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District and
  extend to her best wishes for the retirement years ahead; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
