| George E. Freeborn | ||
| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the | ||
| citizens of San Antonio in mourning the loss of George E. | ||
| Freeborn, who died March 15, 2011, at the age of 84; and | ||
| WHEREAS, George Freeborn was born on March 13, 1927, in Los | ||
| Angeles, California, to Genevieve Helen Lloyd Freeborn and Dr. | ||
| Grant Freeborn; he proudly served his country in the United | ||
| States Navy Air Corps from 1944 to 1946; and | ||
| WHEREAS, He was the founder of TexTek Plastics, | ||
| Incorporated, in San Antonio, and served as its chief executive | ||
| officer until he sold the company in 1992; he was a pioneer in the | ||
| plastics industry, and his innovations were recognized with | ||
| awards and are still in use today; and | ||
| WHEREAS, He was a fellow of the Society of Plastics | ||
| Engineers and a past director at large of the Society of the | ||
| Plastics Industry; in 1987, he was the recipient of the CIM | ||
| Leaders Award presented by Plastics Technology for Pioneering | ||
| Computer Integration in Plastics Manufacturing; and | ||
| WHEREAS, He was respected for his outstanding | ||
| accomplishments and for his leadership in the community; he was a | ||
| past president of the North Central Rotary Club and a former | ||
| member of the board of directors of the Lighthouse for the Blind; | ||
| he was also a member of the board of directors of the Lyric Opera | ||
| of San Antonio; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A devout man, he was a member of Saint Pius X | ||
| Catholic Church and of the Knights of Columbus Alamo Council | ||
| 4298; he was a Knight of the Equestrian Order of the Holy | ||
| Sepulcher; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. Freeborn was passionate about world travel | ||
| and was an avid photographer and videographer; he also loved | ||
| spending time camping, boating, and fishing with his family; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and generosity, he | ||
| gave unselfishly of his time to others, and his wisdom, warmth, | ||
| and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew him; | ||
| and | ||
| WHEREAS, George Freeborn was a devoted husband, father, | ||
| and grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be | ||
| treasured forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, | ||
| be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd | ||
| Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved | ||
| family of George Freeborn: his beloved wife of 62 years, Tina | ||
| Freeborn; his sons and daughter-in-law, Mark Freeborn and Sheryl | ||
| and Scott Freeborn; and his grandchildren and | ||
| great-grandchildren; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy | ||
| from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this | ||
| day, it do so in memory of George E. Freeborn. | ||
