Margaret Christine Laws Holcombe | ||
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the | ||
citizens of Cameron in mourning the loss of Margaret Christine | ||
Laws Holcombe, who died January 3, 2013, at the age of 66; and | ||
WHEREAS, Chris Holcombe was born May 20, 1946, in Lockhart; | ||
she graduated from Del Valle High School in Austin in 1963 before | ||
entering The University of Texas at Austin, where she earned a | ||
degree in home economics; and | ||
WHEREAS, | ||
WHEREAS, Mrs. Holcombe enjoyed a productive, 35-year | ||
career with the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service as the | ||
county extension agent for family and consumer sciences in Milam | ||
County; over the course of her career, she received numerous | ||
awards for her exceptional service, most notably the Texas 4-H | ||
Meritorious Service Award; and | ||
WHEREAS, After her retirement, she continued to serve her | ||
community by volunteering for a wide variety of charitable and | ||
civic organizations, including the First United Methodist Women, | ||
the Republican Women of Milam County, the Cameron Lions Club, and | ||
the Cameron Arts and Service League; in 2010, she was named | ||
Volunteer of the Year by the Cameron Chamber of Commerce; and | ||
WHEREAS, A woman of generosity, compassion, and strength, | ||
she gave unselfishly to others, and her wisdom, her commitment to | ||
service, and her enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest | ||
will not be forgotten; and | ||
WHEREAS, She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, | ||
and she leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by | ||
her family and countless friends; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd | ||
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved | ||
family of Margaret Christine Holcombe; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas | ||
Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in | ||
memory of Chris Holcombe. | ||
