| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize Luke Joeckel of Texas A&M University, who has been | ||
| named the recipient of the 2012 Outland Trophy; and | ||
| WHEREAS, | ||
| WHEREAS, A junior offensive tackle and three-year starter, | ||
| Luke was the mainstay of an Aggie offensive line that had a | ||
| profound impact on the team's success in its inaugural season in | ||
| the Southeastern Conference; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The Aggies finished third in the nation in total | ||
| offense, with 552.3 yards per game, and in scoring offense, with | ||
| 44.8 points per game; the line played a vital role in the | ||
| extraordinary success of Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback | ||
| Johnny Manziel; and | ||
| WHEREAS, | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend Luke Joeckel on his extraordinary | ||
| achievements at Texas A&M University and extend congratulations | ||
| to him on winning the 2012 Outland Trophy; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
