| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize Larry Gene Pullin for his many achievements and for his | ||
| visionary work on behalf of the veterans of Brown County; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Larry Pullin served with distinction in the | ||
| United States Army during the Vietnam War; he is a highly | ||
| decorated veteran and a two-time Purple Heart recipient; and | ||
| WHEREAS, After retiring as a staff sergeant in 1975, Larry | ||
| earned a bachelor of science degree from Tarleton State | ||
| University; he moved to Brownwood to open his own business, and | ||
| he has since remained a resident of Brown County; and | ||
| WHEREAS, In the years following his military retirement, | ||
| Larry has been active in veterans' affairs, and he continues to | ||
| serve as a tireless proponent of veterans' rights; recently, he | ||
| has been advocating for the implementation of a Veterans | ||
| Treatment Court in Brown County, an endeavor that would expand | ||
| specialized services to veterans who often do not seek out the | ||
| help they need when they return home from combat service; and | ||
| WHEREAS, In response to the dedicated efforts of Larry | ||
| Pullin and other community advocates working on behalf of | ||
| veterans, the Brown County Commissioners Court is beginning the | ||
| process of laying the groundwork for establishing a Veterans | ||
| Treatment Court in Brown County; Mr. Pullin played an integral | ||
| role in this outstanding development, and he is indeed deserving | ||
| of recognition for his accomplishments; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend Larry Gene Pullin for his many | ||
| contributions to his community and for his exceptional work on | ||
| behalf of his fellow veterans and extend to him best wishes in all | ||
| his future endeavors; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
