Everett Blanford Scott | ||
WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories | ||
of Lieutenant Colonel Everett Blanford Scott of Mineola, who | ||
passed away on January 2, 2017, at the age of 92; and | ||
WHEREAS, Everett Scott was born to Cooper and Ollie Scott | ||
on November 7, 1924, in Goodlett; he served his nation during | ||
World War II in the United States Navy and later joined the army, | ||
serving for a total of 32 years and retiring from the Texas Army | ||
National Guard with the rank of lieutenant colonel; in civilian | ||
life, this esteemed Texan served as a Texas state trooper and as | ||
chief of police in Grapevine; and | ||
WHEREAS, A longtime congregant of the First Baptist Church | ||
in Mineola, Everett Scott attended the Couples Three Sunday school | ||
class and proudly served on the committee to renovate the church | ||
sanctuary; he was also active in his local Rotary Club and served | ||
on the executive board for the Mineola League of the Arts; and | ||
WHEREAS, The loss of Colonel Scott is deeply felt by all | ||
who appreciated his warm smile and hospitality, and his memory | ||
will always be cherished by the numerous friends that he made | ||
through the years, as well as by the many people whose lives he | ||
forever enriched; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th | ||
Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Lieutenant | ||
Colonel Everett Blanford Scott and extend sincere condolences to | ||
the members of his family: to his wife, Pat Scott; to his sons, | ||
Everett Ross Scott and his wife, Joanie, and Gary Wayne Scott | ||
and his wife, Debbie; to his stepdaughter, Rebecca Lynn | ||
Garcia-Ortiz, and stepsons, Robert Allen Blair, Donald Lynden | ||
Blair, and David Ted Blair; to his 16 grandchildren and 19 | ||
great-grandchildren; and to his other relatives and friends; | ||
and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this day, it do | ||
so in memory of Lieutenant Colonel Everett Blanford Scott. | ||
