Piers Lawrence Depeyster Chance | ||
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and | ||
commemorates the life of Piers Lawrence Depeyster Chance, who | ||
died June 4, 2013, at the age of 73; and | ||
WHEREAS, Piers Chance was born August 26, 1939, in Epsom, | ||
England; he came to this country during World War II and grew up | ||
in Asheville, North Carolina, where he graduated from Lee H. | ||
Edwards High School and attended the University of North Carolina | ||
at Asheville; he served the nation with distinction with the | ||
United States Marine Corps; and | ||
WHEREAS, He married Carolyn Ann Young in 1965, and the | ||
couple began their new life together in Texas; they raised a | ||
daughter, Chelsea Starr, and they were blessed with three | ||
grandchildren, Joel, Ashley, and Austin; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mr. Chance enjoyed a long and productive career in | ||
the commercial real estate industry as a broker and certified | ||
property manager; he worked with a wide variety of companies and | ||
on a number of high-profile projects, including Equitable Life | ||
Assurance and One Main Place, Bass Brothers Enterprises and | ||
Sundance Square, and Lincoln Property Company and the Bank of | ||
America Corporate Center; and | ||
WHEREAS, He was active in such community organizations as | ||
the Lions Club and served on the Colleyville City Council and the | ||
Colleyville Zoning and Planning Board; he was a faithful member | ||
of Saint Vincent's Cathedral, where he served as a vestry member, | ||
lay reader, and school board member; and | ||
WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and compassion, he | ||
gave unselfishly to others, and he was deeply cherished and will | ||
long be remembered for his winning smile, the happiness he | ||
brought to others, and the enthusiasm with which he lived each | ||
day to the fullest; and | ||
WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and | ||
grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured | ||
forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd | ||
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby extend sincere | ||
condolences to the bereaved family of Piers Lawrence Depeyster | ||
Chance; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas | ||
Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in | ||
memory of Piers Chance. | ||
