| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize Charles Silmon, who recently won the 100-meter dash at | ||
| the National Collegiate Athletic Association Outdoor Track and | ||
| Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon; and | ||
| WHEREAS, | ||
| WHEREAS, This exceptional student-athlete won the race | ||
| with a time of 9.89 and became the first Horned Frog to win the | ||
| event since 1989; he went on to also compete in the finals of the | ||
| 200-meter dash and the 4x100-meter relay; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Texas Christian University, the people of Fort | ||
| Worth, and Texans across the state are proud of Charles for his | ||
| hard work and his impressive skills; he is truly deserving of | ||
| recognition for his exemplary collegiate athletic career; now, | ||
| therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd | ||
| Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Charles Silmon | ||
| on his outstanding accomplishments and extend congratulations to | ||
| him on winning the National Collegiate Athletic Association | ||
| championship in the 100-meter dash; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
