SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1228
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Omar Ochoa on the occasion of his graduation from The
  University of Texas School of Law; and
         WHEREAS, Over the course of his career at The University of
  Texas at Austin, Mr. Ochoa has distinguished himself in numerous
  capacities; he was the first Latino to serve as the university's
  student body president and the first Latino to serve as editor in
  chief of the Texas Law Review, one of the foremost legal
  publications in the country; and
         WHEREAS, Combining his passions for law and public
  service, he interned at the Texas Supreme Court and served as
  education chair for the Chicano-Hispanic Law Students
  Association; he was a mentor in the university's Intellectual
  Entrepreneurship program and was abbot of the university's Friar
  Society, the oldest and most prestigious honor society on campus;
  and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Ochoa was a member of the team that won the
  Uvaldo Herrera National Moot Court Championship in April, which
  the university recognized by lighting the Tower orange with a
  number one, a rare honor; he has been published in two law
  journals, and he played an important role in the successful
  efforts to add a student member to each Texas public university's
  board of regents; and
         WHEREAS, A high achiever, Mr. Ochoa establishes and
  pursues his goals with perseverance and a clear vision of his
  future; his notable accomplishments as a student bear witness to
  his dedication and outstanding abilities; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby commend Omar Ochoa on his many outstanding
  achievements and extend to him best wishes for continued success
  in the years ahead; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
