| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize Eddie Wayne Crawford, who is retiring on June 10, 2011, | ||
| after more than three decades of outstanding service with the | ||
| Dallas Police Department; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. Crawford began his career with the Dallas | ||
| Police Department in December of 1977; he was soon promoted to | ||
| senior corporal, and over the course of his time at the | ||
| department he has trained and mentored hundreds of young police | ||
| officers; and | ||
| WHEREAS, He was elected to the board of directors of the | ||
| Dallas Police Association in 1983 and in 1988 was chosen as the | ||
| organization's vice president; he worked with countless officers | ||
| to address concerns and issues regarding their careers and played | ||
| a vital role in the creation of the Assist the Officer | ||
| Foundation, which supports officers in dealing with catastrophic | ||
| events; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A man of courage and commitment, he has dedicated | ||
| his career to making the streets of Dallas safer for its | ||
| citizens, and he has consistently shown solid judgment in his | ||
| handling of the unique challenges of law enforcement duty; and | ||
| WHEREAS, He is respected and admired by his fellow officers | ||
| and civilians alike, and his presence at the Dallas Police | ||
| Department will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend Eddie Wayne Crawford on his | ||
| exceptional service to the people of Dallas as an officer with | ||
| the Dallas Police Department and extend to him best wishes for | ||
| the retirement years ahead; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
