Elise Ybarra | ||
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens | ||
of Abilene in mourning the loss of Detective Elise Ybarra, who died | ||
in the line of duty August 6, 2017, at the age of 33; and | ||
WHEREAS, Elise Ybarra was an exemplary citizen and a | ||
peace officer who was widely respected and admired for her | ||
dedication to her profession and for her many contributions to | ||
her community; and | ||
WHEREAS, Detective Ybarra began her career in law | ||
enforcement as a member of the Sedalia Police Department in | ||
Missouri; in 2014, she joined the Abilene Police Department and | ||
served as a patrol officer before transferring to the Special | ||
Victims Unit as a child abuse investigator in 2016; and | ||
WHEREAS, Over the course of her career, she handled the | ||
unique challenges of law enforcement duty with courage, | ||
professionalism, and a deep commitment to public service; and | ||
WHEREAS, She and her beloved husband, Adam, were blessed | ||
with a daughter, who was a source of much pride and joy for her; and | ||
WHEREAS, A woman of strength, compassion, and integrity, | ||
she gave unselfishly to others, and her enthusiasm for living | ||
each day to the fullest will not be forgotten by those who were | ||
privileged to share in her life; and | ||
WHEREAS, She was a devoted wife and mother, and she leaves | ||
behind memories that will be treasured forever by her family and | ||
many friends; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th | ||
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby extend sincere condolences | ||
to the bereaved family of Elise Ybarra; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas | ||
Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in | ||
memory of Elise Ybarra. | ||
