| WHEREAS, Dr. Jaime Villarreal achieved great distinction | ||
| by graduating from The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley with | ||
| a doctorate of education in curriculum and instruction on | ||
| December 12, 2020; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Dr. Villarreal holds a master's degree in | ||
| educational leadership and a bachelor's degree in government | ||
| from The University of Texas at Brownsville; on November 16, | ||
| 2020, he successfully defended his dissertation, "Field of | ||
| Dreams: Environmental Factors Contributing to the Academic and | ||
| Professional Success of Mexican-American Former Migrant Students | ||
| from the Rio-Grande Valley of South Texas"; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A lifelong educator and a former migrant student, | ||
| Dr. Villarreal has dedicated his career to teaching on South | ||
| Texas campuses in Brownsville; since 2015, he has served as an | ||
| assistant principal at Faulk Middle School, and he previously | ||
| spent six years as an assistant principal at Lucio Middle School | ||
| and seven years as a classroom instructor at Gladys Porter High | ||
| School, beginning in 2002; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Jaime Villarreal has demonstrated an unwavering | ||
| commitment to the students of the Rio Grande Valley in his | ||
| academic and professional endeavors, and he may indeed take great | ||
| pride in this most recent accomplishment; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th | ||
| Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Dr. Jaime | ||
| Villarreal on receiving a doctorate of education from The | ||
| University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and extend to him sincere | ||
| best wishes for continued success; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be | ||
| prepared for Dr. Villarreal as an expression of high regard from | ||
| the Texas Senate. | ||
