CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
         WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the
  passing of Robert Mirk Ellis of Friendswood on October 30, 2023, at
  the age of 80; and
         WHEREAS, Robert Ellis was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on May 23,
  1943; he earned a master's degree in business administration from
  the University of Dayton and began working in space life sciences in
  1967, at a company then called Technology Inc.; later renamed Wyle
  Integrated Science and Engineering Group, the business worked with
  NASA to study the cardiovascular health of astronauts, and it grew
  to employ 1,300 people; he retired as group president after 45 years
  with the company; and
         WHEREAS, Blessed with a devoted family, Mr. Ellis shared a
  rewarding relationship with his wife, Mary, that spanned nearly 47
  years, and he took great pride in their four children, nine
  grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, A man of faith, Mr. Ellis was actively involved in
  his church, and he served as an administrator for many years; he was
  also a dedicated coach to his children's baseball teams, and in his
  leisure time, he enjoyed collecting cards and coins and tending to
  his garden, which included over 100 varieties of roses; and
         WHEREAS, Although Robert Ellis is deeply missed, he will
  forever be remembered with great admiration for his professional
  achievements and for the myriad ways he gave of himself to benefit
  others; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the 88th Legislature of the State of Texas,
  3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of Robert Mirk
  Ellis and extend sincere condolences to all who mourn his passing;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of
  Robert Ellis.
