relating to the use of a Restatement of the Law published by the | ||
American Law Institute. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Chapter 1, Civil Practice and Remedies Code, is | ||
amended by adding Section 1.004 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 1.004. USE OF RESTATEMENT PROHIBITED. Except as | ||
specifically provided by this code, a Restatement of the Law | ||
published by the American Law Institute shall not be considered in | ||
any action governed by the laws of this state. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
