A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to granting limited state law enforcement authority to
  National Aeronautics and Space Administration security personnel.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 2.122, Code of Criminal Procedure, is
  amended by adding Subsection (h) to read as follows:
         (h)  National Aeronautics and Space Administration security
  personnel, including contractor security personnel who have
  completed the training required by the administration to serve in
  that capacity, are not peace officers under the laws of this state,
  but have the powers of arrest, search, and seizure, including the
  powers under Section 9.51, Penal Code, while in the performance of
  the personnel's duties:
               (1)  on property owned, leased, or controlled by the
  administration; or 
               (2)  under an agreement entered into with local law
  enforcement regarding an area surrounding property owned, leased,
  or controlled by the administration.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
