relating to ingress and egress for access by emergency vehicles and | ||
for use during evacuations in certain new residential subdivisions. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 232, Local Government | ||
Code, is amended by adding Section 232.0034 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 232.0034. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: ACCESS BY | ||
EMERGENCY VEHICLES. (a) This section applies only to a | ||
residential subdivision that is subdivided into 1,000 or more lots | ||
in the unincorporated area of a county. | ||
(b) The commissioners court shall adopt infrastructure | ||
standards requiring at least two means of ingress and egress in the | ||
subdivision to provide for sufficient routes of travel for use by | ||
emergency vehicles and for use during evacuations resulting from | ||
fire or other natural disasters. | ||
(c) This section does not limit the authority of a | ||
commissioners court under other existing laws, as applicable, to | ||
adopt infrastructure standards that are more stringent than | ||
standards required by this section. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act applies to a residential subdivision | ||
for which a plat is filed under Chapter 232, Local Government Code, | ||
on or after the effective date of this Act. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
