A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to a supreme court rule, practice, or procedure.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 22.003, Government Code, is amended by
  amending Subsection (b) and adding Subsection (c) to read as
  follows:
         (b)  Except as provided by Subsection (c), the [The] supreme
  court may make and enforce all necessary rules of practice and
  procedure, not inconsistent with the law, for the government of the
  supreme court and all other courts of the state to expedite the
  dispatch of business in those courts.
         (c)  A rule, practice, or procedure made by the supreme court
  does not apply in a criminal case unless the rule, practice, or
  procedure has been approved by the presiding judge of the court of
  criminal appeals. 
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
