| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 22.003, Government Code, is amended by | ||
| amending Subsection (b) and adding Subsection (c) to read as | ||
| follows: | ||
| (b) Except as provided by Subsection (c), the [ |
||
| court may make and enforce all necessary rules of practice and | ||
| procedure, not inconsistent with the law, for the government of the | ||
| supreme court and all other courts of the state to expedite the | ||
| dispatch of business in those courts. | ||
| (c) A rule, practice, or procedure made by the supreme court | ||
| does not apply in a criminal case unless the rule, practice, or | ||
| procedure has been approved by the presiding judge of the court of | ||
| criminal appeals. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. | ||
