WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and | ||
meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends | ||
of Minerva Rodriguez Lopez of Robstown, who passed away on June 26, | ||
2022, at the age of 84; and | ||
WHEREAS, The daughter of Nicholas and Maria Elena Gonzales | ||
Rodriguez, the former Minerva Rodriguez was born in Robstown on | ||
February 4, 1938, and she grew up with the companionship of four | ||
siblings, Nicholas, Ramiro, Armando, and Maria Elena; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mrs. Lopez was a cofounder of Lopez Broadcasting, | ||
where she enjoyed a rewarding career that spanned more than three | ||
decades, and she cofounded Cotton Broadcasting with her husband, | ||
Humberto Lozano Lopez, and son Carlos Lopez in 1985; four years | ||
later, the trio established KMIQ Majic Tejano, one of the first | ||
Spanish-language FM radio stations in the nation, and they | ||
subsequently founded the KHMC Majic Tejano station in Victoria; | ||
they went on to establish KLMO Tejano in San Antonio as well as a | ||
number of broadcasting stations in Corpus Christi, and they found | ||
further success in the television industry; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mrs. Lopez shared 55 years of marriage with her | ||
husband before Mr. Lopez's passing in 2011; in addition to her son | ||
Carlos, she took great pride in their 11 other children, Mario | ||
Humberto, Luis Homero, Larry, Manuel, Humberto, Ernest, Mena Lamar, | ||
Melinda, Ray, Lisa, and Mary Helen, and over the years, her | ||
treasured family grew to include 39 grandchildren and 31 | ||
great-grandchildren; sustained by a deep faith, she was a devoted | ||
parishioner of St. Anthony Church; and | ||
WHEREAS, Minerva Lopez lived a caring and purposeful life, | ||
and she will forever be a source of inspiration to those who were | ||
fortunate enough to know her; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Minerva Rodriguez | ||
Lopez and extend heartfelt sympathy to all who mourn her passing; | ||
and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of | ||
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Minerva | ||
Lopez. | ||
