R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The 12th annual Austin Capitol Congressional Debate
  Tournament is taking place at the State Capitol on November 30,
  2023; and
         WHEREAS, Sponsored by State Representative Rafael Anchía,
  the tournament provides more than 200 high school students from
  across Texas with the opportunity to showcase their public speaking
  and debate skills; participants are divided into three sections,
  novice, house, and senate, and they assume the role of lawmakers
  while debating mock legislation written by fellow students; each
  finalist will receive a medal, and the top competitors will be
  awarded gavels; and
         WHEREAS, This year's tournament has benefited from the able
  leadership of its directors, Donna Szumila of THEO Christian
  Solution, Inc., and Brian Alford of A&M Consolidated High School,
  as well as its liaisons, Gus A. and Amelia S. Perez; and
         WHEREAS, The Austin Capitol Congressional Debate Tournament
  is equipping young Texans with valuable skills and experiences
  while helping to prepare the next generation of leaders, and it is a
  pleasure to join in recognizing all those involved in this
  noteworthy competition; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby commemorate the 12th annual
  Austin Capitol Congressional Debate Tournament and extend to the
  organizers and participants sincere best wishes for a successful
  and memorable event.
