WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and | ||
meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends | ||
of Edward Allen North of Kerrville, who passed away on July 27, | ||
2010, at the age of 64; and | ||
WHEREAS, Born in Bakersfield, California, on September 26, | ||
1946, Ed North was a sergeant in the United States Air Force from | ||
1965 to 1969; he married in 1971, and he and his wife, Gloria, were | ||
blessed with a son, Chance, and a foster son, Owen; their family | ||
grew to include three grandsons and a foster grandson; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mr. North was Kerr County's first environmental | ||
officer, and he was a deputy criminal investigator for the county; | ||
additionally, he served as the firearms instructor for the Kerr | ||
County Sheriff's Office for many years, and he was also associated | ||
with the La Vernia Police Department and was a deputy constable for | ||
Bexar County Precinct 4; and | ||
WHEREAS, In other endeavors, Mr. North was a director of | ||
Colonial Nursing Home and owned North Bonding Company; and | ||
WHEREAS, A proud member of Rising Star Masonic Lodge No. 429 | ||
in Center Point, which his great-grandfather helped found, he also | ||
belonged to the Shriners and to American Legion Post No. 208; he was | ||
a member of the Sheriff's Association, the Texas Police | ||
Association, the National Rifle Association, and the Hole in the | ||
Wall Gunfighters; he volunteered his time as a scoutmaster, and | ||
Hermann Sons Lodge No. 12 of Kerrville presented him with its | ||
Humanitarian Award; and | ||
WHEREAS, Ed North lived a caring and purposeful life, and he | ||
will forever be remembered with great affection by all those who | ||
were privileged to share in his love and friendship; now, | ||
therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas | ||
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Edward Allen North and | ||
extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his | ||
wife, Gloria North; to his son, Chance North; to his grandsons, | ||
Joseph, Austin, and Kaleb North; to his sister, Phyllis Miller, and | ||
her husband, James; to his mother-in-law, Gloria Sweeney; to his | ||
foster son, Owen Harrington; to his foster grandson, Kyle | ||
Harrington; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it | ||
further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of | ||
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Edward | ||
Allen North. |
