WHEREAS, Naaman Forest High School in Garland has received a | ||
2012 College Readiness Award from the Texas ACT Council; and | ||
WHEREAS, This prestigious accolade is presented to high | ||
schools that have made significant progress in increasing the | ||
number of students taking the ACT assessment over the course of a | ||
five-year period; in 2012, just 170 schools in Texas received the | ||
honor; and | ||
WHEREAS, Under the leadership of principal Steve Baker, | ||
Naaman Forest High School has implemented a number of initiatives | ||
to promote student preparedness; its PLAN and EXPLORE programs | ||
identify weaknesses and strengths of students to set benchmarks for | ||
progress and to provide them with information about career | ||
possibilities; and | ||
WHEREAS, The educators of Naaman Forest High School have | ||
given the young Texans in their charge a strong foundation on which | ||
to build, and their dedication to academic excellence is reflected | ||
in the positive results achieved by their students on the ACT | ||
assessment; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas | ||
Legislature hereby congratulate Naaman Forest High School on its | ||
receipt of a 2012 College Readiness Award and extend to all those | ||
associated with the school sincere best wishes for continued | ||
achievement; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
House of Representatives. | ||
