| WHEREAS, Alejandro G. Meade III of Mission was appointed to | ||
| the Texas Transportation Commission on March 21, 2023, for a term | ||
| set to expire on February 1, 2025; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Governing the Texas Department of Transportation, | ||
| the Texas Transportation Commission adopts operational rules for | ||
| the department, establishes policies regarding the state highway | ||
| system, and helps to advance public transportation in the state; | ||
| the commission is also responsible for developing a statewide | ||
| transportation plan; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Alex Meade is a certified public manager and | ||
| economic development finance professional, and he currently serves | ||
| as executive vice president of Texas Regional Bank; he previously | ||
| led the Mission Economic Development Corporation as its chief | ||
| executive officer and served as the city manager in Pharr; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. Meade holds a bachelor's degree in economics | ||
| from St. Edward's University, a master's degree in business | ||
| administration from The University of Texas at Brownsville, and a | ||
| master's degree in public administration from UT Pan American; he | ||
| also participated in the Texas Lyceum, and he has served on the | ||
| boards of the Border Trade Alliance, the Texas State Technical | ||
| College System, and the Texas Economic Development Corporation; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Alex Meade has upheld the | ||
| highest standards of his profession, and he will bring to his new | ||
| duties on the Texas Transportation Commission equal commitment and | ||
| energy; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate Alejandro G. Meade III on his | ||
| appointment to the Texas Transportation Commission and extend to | ||
| him sincere best wishes for a successful tenure; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Mr. Meade as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
| House of Representatives. | ||
