WHEREAS, Former National Football League star Tim Brown has | ||
been named a North Texas Father of the Year by the Sylvan Landau | ||
Foundation; and | ||
WHEREAS, The Father of the Year Awards program was | ||
established in 1976 by Dallas men's clothier Sylvan Landau with the | ||
mission of honoring exceptional fathers while raising funds for | ||
children's charities; to date, the program has contributed nearly | ||
$4 million to more than 30 Metroplex charities; and | ||
WHEREAS, Tim Brown graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School | ||
in Dallas and went on to win the 1987 Heisman Trophy at the | ||
University of Notre Dame; a first-round NFL draft pick, he played 16 | ||
seasons with the Oakland Raiders and retired in 2005; today he lives | ||
in DeSoto with his wife and four children and oversees the Tim Brown | ||
Foundation, which works to strengthen the moral character of | ||
America's youth and to prevent childhood obesity; and | ||
WHEREAS, Committed to the health and success of America's | ||
children as well as his own, Tim Brown has set an inspiring example | ||
of leadership, and he is truly deserving of this prestigious | ||
accolade; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas | ||
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Tim Brown on | ||
being named a 2011 North Texas Father of the Year and extend to him | ||
sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for Mr. Brown as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
House of Representatives. |
