R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Former National Football League star Tim Brown has
  been named a North Texas Father of the Year by the Sylvan Landau
  Foundation; and
         WHEREAS, The Father of the Year Awards program was
  established in 1976 by Dallas men's clothier Sylvan Landau with the
  mission of honoring exceptional fathers while raising funds for
  children's charities; to date, the program has contributed nearly
  $4 million to more than 30 Metroplex charities; and
         WHEREAS, Tim Brown graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School
  in Dallas and went on to win the 1987 Heisman Trophy at the
  University of Notre Dame; a first-round NFL draft pick, he played 16
  seasons with the Oakland Raiders and retired in 2005; today he lives
  in DeSoto with his wife and four children and oversees the Tim Brown
  Foundation, which works to strengthen the moral character of
  America's youth and to prevent childhood obesity; and
         WHEREAS, Committed to the health and success of America's
  children as well as his own, Tim Brown has set an inspiring example
  of leadership, and he is truly deserving of this prestigious
  accolade; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Tim Brown on
  being named a 2011 North Texas Father of the Year and extend to him
  sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Brown as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
