WHEREAS, Alan Jones of Wimberley celebrated his 68th birthday | ||
on September 28, 2022, to the delight of his family and friends; and | ||
WHEREAS, The son of Milam and Bobbie Jones, Alan Jones was | ||
born in Houston in 1954 and grew up with six siblings; at the age of | ||
five, he moved with his family to Wimberley; there, he played | ||
football, basketball, and baseball at Hays High School and was a | ||
member of the Class of 1973; following his graduation from Temple | ||
Junior College, he joined his father at a mining operation in | ||
Poteau, Oklahoma; later, he took a job at a glass plant owned by | ||
Scott Glass; and | ||
WHEREAS, In 1981, Mr. Jones married Carolyn Lovell, and the | ||
couple moved to Jourdanton, where they raised their son, Robert; | ||
Mr. Jones worked for Morrison-Knudsen at the Atascosa Mining | ||
Company until 1998, when he changed careers and went into sales at | ||
Capitol Chevrolet; after 20 years with the company, he retired as | ||
sales desk manager; and | ||
WHEREAS, Residents of Wimberley since 1999, Mr. Jones and his | ||
wife enjoy hosting family and friends at their home; Mr. Jones also | ||
takes pleasure in hunting, golfing, and working in the yard; and | ||
WHEREAS, Fondly known as the "Mayor of Jones Hill," Alan | ||
Jones has earned the admiration and affection of all who are | ||
privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby congratulate Alan Jones on his 68th birthday and | ||
extend to him sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be | ||
it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for Mr. Jones as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
House of Representatives. | ||
