WHEREAS, Members of the African American Leadership | ||
Institute (AALI) of San Antonio are visiting the State Capitol on | ||
February 9, 2011; and | ||
WHEREAS, Founded in 2002 by Dr. Morris A. Stribling, the AALI | ||
was created to identify and develop emerging leaders in the Alamo | ||
City; during a 10-month program, the organization provides | ||
training, mentoring, and networking that will prepare talented | ||
citizens to take on a greater role in both the African American | ||
community and the city at large; and | ||
WHEREAS, To achieve its goal, the institute educates its | ||
Fellows about the history, culture, and traditions that have | ||
influenced the city's African American institutions and social | ||
fabric; Fellows also study a range of important issues that they | ||
will encounter as city leaders, including matters relating to | ||
energy, health care, education, and technology; and | ||
WHEREAS, After completing the program, each class works | ||
together on a project that strengthens the bonds among its members | ||
and that gives back to the community; graduates of the institute | ||
continue to hone their leadership skills and to further their civic | ||
involvement through membership in the AALI Alumni Association; and | ||
WHEREAS, By empowering those who can inspire others and who | ||
have the capacity to coordinate efforts in behalf of a common goal, | ||
the African American Leadership Institute has significantly | ||
contributed to the strength and well-being of San Antonio and its | ||
African American community, and all those associated with this | ||
organization are indeed deserving of special recognition; now, | ||
therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas | ||
Legislature hereby welcome the members of the African American | ||
Leadership Institute to the State Capitol and commend the institute | ||
on its outstanding public service; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for the AALI as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
House of Representatives. | ||
