R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Michael Brown retired as superintendent of Highland
  Park Independent School District in Amarillo on May 31, 2014,
  drawing to a close a notable career in public education that spanned
  three decades; and
         WHEREAS, Michael Allen Brown began his exemplary 30-year
  tenure as an educator at Fannin Junior High School in Amarillo,
  where he was a teacher and coach for three years; he went on to serve
  as head basketball coach at Whiteface High School for three years,
  as assistant principal at Lamesa Middle School for two years, and as
  principal of Kress Secondary School for two years; and
         WHEREAS, This outstanding professional took on new
  responsibilities when he became superintendent of Kress
  Independent School District for four years before becoming the
  superintendent of Sunray Independent School District, where he
  served for 12 years; in July 2010, he started work as superintendent
  of Highland Park ISD, and he served that district with distinction
  for four years, earning the respect and admiration of parents,
  students, and his fellow educators; and
         WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Mr. Brown has enjoyed the
  love and support of his wife, Stacey Brown, and his two sons, Andrew
  and Matthew Brown; and
         WHEREAS, Michael Brown's dedication, expertise, and
  commitment to excellence have greatly benefited several
  generations of students in West Texas, and he may indeed look back
  with pride on an exceptional career and his many outstanding
  accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Michael Brown on his retirement as
  superintendent of Highland Park Independent School District and
  extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Brown as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
