WHEREAS, For more than 35 years, Richard Ford has dedicated | ||
himself to promoting conservative values in government through his | ||
organizations, the Free Market Foundation and the Heritage | ||
Alliance; and | ||
WHEREAS, A native of El Paso, Mr. Ford attended The | ||
University of Texas at Austin; after graduating, he moved to | ||
Dallas, where he built successful careers in both real estate and | ||
insurance; he and his wife Julie were married in 1967, and together | ||
they have been blessed with two daughters and six grandchildren; | ||
and | ||
WHEREAS, In the 1970s, Mr. Ford organized the Free Market | ||
Foundation, which worked to educate Christians about their right to | ||
be self-governing; he transferred the leadership of the foundation | ||
to Kelly Shackelford in 1997, and in the years since, he has focused | ||
on political advocacy and campaign efforts through his new | ||
organizations, the Heritage Alliance and the Heritage Alliance PAC; | ||
and | ||
WHEREAS, The civic life of Texas benefits greatly from the | ||
energy and commitment of engaged citizens, and Richard Ford has | ||
proven himself to be a champion of the conservative principles of | ||
free enterprise, limited government, and limited taxation; now, | ||
therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas | ||
Legislature hereby recognize Richard Ford for his work with the | ||
Heritage Alliance and extend to him sincere best wishes for the | ||
future; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for Mr. Ford as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
House of Representatives. | ||
